Scientists found no signs of cancer in their extensive study of mummies apart from one isolated case

In absolutely NO WAY am I belittling the physical and emotional suffering which takes place by cancer patients and their families. My heart truly aches for the millions of lives affected by this illness.

The good news, no, the GREAT, AMAZING, and FANTASTIC news is that since it’s a man made and lifestyle induced problem, it also has a solution. And I like solutions, don’t you?

Cancer is a man-made disease fuelled by the excesses of modern life, a study of ancient remains has found.

Tumours were rare until recent times when pollution and poor diet became issues, the review of mummies, fossils and classical literature found.

A greater understanding of its origins could lead to treatments for the disease, which claims more than 150,000 lives a year in the UK.

Michael Zimmerman, a visiting professor at Manchester University, said: ‘In an ancient society lacking surgical intervention, evidence of cancer should remain in all cases.

‘The virtual absence of malignancies in mummies must be interpreted as indicating their rarity in antiquity, indicating that cancer-causing factors are limited to societies affected by modern industrialisation.’

To trace cancer’s roots, Professor Zimmerman and colleague Rosalie David analysed possible references to the disease in classical literature and scrutinised signs in the fossil record and in mummified bodies.

Despite slivers of tissue from hundreds of Egyptian mummies being rehydrated and placed under the microscope, only one case of cancer has been confirmed.

This is despite experiments showing that tumours should be even better preserved by mummification than healthy tissues.

Dismissing the argument that the ancient Egyptians didn’t live long enough to develop cancer, the researchers pointed out that other age-related disease such as hardening of the arteries and brittle bones died occur.

Fossil evidence of cancer is also sparse, with scientific literature providing a few dozen, mostly disputed, examples in animal fossil, the journal Nature Reviews Cancer reports.

Even the study of thousands of Neanderthal bones has provided only one example of a possible cancer.

Evidence of cancer in ancient Egyptian texts is also ‘tenuous’ with cancer-like problems more likely to have been caused by leprosy or even varicose veins.

The ancient Greeks were probably the first to define cancer as a specific disease and to distinguish between benign and malignant tumours.

But Manchester professors said it was unclear if this signalled a real rise in the disease, or just a greater medical knowledge.

The 17th century provides the first descriptions of operations for breast and other cancers.

And the first reports in scientific literature of distinctive tumours only occurred in the past 200 years or so, including scrotal cancer in chimney sweeps in 1775 and nasal cancer in snuff users in 1761.

Professor David, who presented the findings to Professor Mike Richards, the UK’s cancer tsar and other oncologists at a conference earlier this year, said: ‘In industrialised societies, cancer is second only to cardiovascular disease as a cause of death. But in ancient times, it was extremely rare.

‘There is nothing in the natural environment that can cause cancer. So it has to be a man-made disease, down to pollution and changes to our diet and lifestyle.

‘The important thing about our study is that it gives a historical perspective to this disease. We can make very clear statements on the cancer rates in societies because we have a full overview. We have looked at millennia, not one hundred years, and have masses of data.

‘Yet again extensive ancient Egyptian data, along with other data from across the millennia, has given modern society a clear message – cancer is man-made and something that we can and should address.

Dr Rachel Thompson, of World Cancer Research Fund, said: ‘This research makes for very interesting reading.

‘About one in three people in the UK will get cancer so it is fairly commonplace in the modern world.

Scientists now say a healthy diet, regular physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight can prevent about a third of the most common cancers so perhaps our ancestors’ lifestyle reduced their risk from cancer.’

On Considering Vaccinations

When considering vaccinations, there are 2 main questions to ask:

1) Are they effective  and 2) Are they safe.

Even before question 1, stop to consider whether the disease in question is one that you actually feel the need to prevent. Most childhood diseases are not life-threatening in most cases, and actually strengthen the immune system. In other words, they are actually beneficial. However, when an adult contracts the disease it can be much more serious (for example: chicken pox). So, it’s much better to have the illness as a child (which provides lifetime immunity), then to avoid it when young, only to be much more susceptible as an adult.

Other diseases are more serious to young children, and unlikely to be contracted over the age of 5 (for example: whooping cough), and so getting a vaccine to prevent it after that age is likely to be useless (even if your answer to question 1 is yes).   And yet another thing to consider is the likelihood of coming in contact with the disease in question. For example: Hepatitis B is transmitted by body fluids (blood, semen) and Tetanus can only reproduce in the anaerobic condition (of a deep puncture wound).  Are these really things that you expect to be in contact with?

So, on to Question #1: Are they effective?

I don’t believe their efficacy has been proven. In fact, many times the patient will develop the very disease for which he has been vaccinated against as a result of the vaccine. There is much evidence against their efficacy, you can do a search and find out for yourself.

Even if you are believe that vaccines are in fact effective, and that you do indeed desire to prevent the disease in question, you must continue on to question #2: Are they safe?

I believe the answer to that is emphatically NO!!

Vaccinations are not safe. They contain many toxic chemicals that have no business being in your body, such as formaldehyde and thimerisol (mercury). They tax the immune system, making it weaker, not stronger. They stress the nervous system, and I believe there is plenty of evidence that they are linked to autism as well as a host of other health issues.

There are pros and cons to everything. IF vaccinations were effective, you’d have to ask yourself whether the toxins and their effects are worth that protection. If they aren’t, then it’s a no-brainer.

My 5 year old recently fell on a rusty nail and got a deep puncture wound. He had not been vaccinated for tetanus. He probably was not in danger, but we decided to get him the TiG (tetanus immunoglobulin) shot after the fact. Remember that there are treatments and solutions if and when a child does get sick. If my other children never get a deep puncture wound, they might never be in a situation where it is even a consideration to get them such a treatment, and they never need  have those chemicals in their bodies.

Conspiracy “Theory” a Reality

I came across this article in the Natural News and just had to share it. If you’ve never doubted the honesty, sincerity, and flat out good intentions of the United States Government, this might just open your eyes a little bit.  When it comes to our good health and the right to be able to pursue it freely, I feel passionately about things like this.

Setting the record straight on government-pharma conspiracies

With this recent admission firmly in mind, let’s set something straight on the issue of government-pharma collusion.

It is now an admitted fact that the U.S. government conspired with the pharmaceutical industry to conduct medical experiments on innocent victims. (This has actually been known for a long, long time, but only now has the mainstream begun to admit to it.) Thus, the U.S. government really does engage in “conspiracies” with Big Pharma. And this means reports of such conspiracy theories can no longer be blown off as mere “conspiracy theories” — a term thrown around by skeptics who try to pretend there is no such thing as a conspiracy in our world.

A “conspiracy” simply means two or more parties working together in secret to accomplish a particular agenda. Once you understand that, it becomes clear that virtually everything Big Pharma does these days involves a conspiracy of one kind or another… a conspiracy to manipulate the data, a conspiracy to achieve FDA approval, a conspiracy to hide the negative studies, a conspiracy to bribe doctors, and so on. Most of what is called “modern science” is actually made up of multiple layers of devious conspiracies that have yet to be fully uncovered and exposed.

Now that we know the U.S. government has engaged in conspiracies with Big Pharma (because the Guatemala incident is just one of a great many such conspiracies), we can ask the question: “Is the U.S. government still conspiring with Big Pharma today to achieve some particular agenda?”

The medical science conspiracies continue

The answer to that seems obvious to those who are paying attention: YES it is! You see this quite blatantly on two significant issues:

#1) Vaccines
#2) Public water fluoridation

In both of these cases, the government conspires to exploit the American people as if they were human guinea pigs. For both vaccines and fluoridation, there is absolutely no hard science to support these toxic chemical interventions as medically beneficial for the masses, and in fact both the fluoride suppliers and seasonal flu vaccine manufacturers will readily admit there have been no legitimate scientific studies conducted that show their products to be either safe or effective. Instead, they are being dumped onto the population as some sort of grand medical experiment to see what happens (and to make a buck).

The U.S. government, as you well know, is fully behind this effort. So are most state and local governments. You see, not only does the U.S. government knowingly use the American people as guinea pigs for medical experiments; it now combines these medical experiments with outrageous propaganda campaigns to try to recruit more people into the experimental pool. Hurry and get vaccinated, everybody! We want to find out what happens when a hundred million gullible people allow themselves to be injected with viral DNA fragments grown in rotten eggs and diseased animals…

Actually, they don’t seem to care much what happens to the test subjects (that would be you and me). What they really want to accomplish is the confiscation of obscene profits for the pharmaceutical companies and chemical companies that make such products. Gender-Bending Chemical on Receipts

You’ve probably heard of BPA. If not, here’s a one minute lesson: Bisphenol A, also known as BPA has been known as a synthetic estrogen since the 1930’s.

“Bisphenol A is used primarily to make plastics, and products containing bisphenol A-based plastics have been in commerce for more than 50 years. At least 8 billion pounds of BPA are used by manufacturers yearly. It is a key monomer in production of epoxy resins and in the most common form of  polycarbonate plastic.  Polycarbonate plastic, which is clear and nearly shatter-proof, is used to make a variety of common products including baby and water bottles, sports equipment, medical and dental devices, dental fillings and sealants, eyeglass lenses, CDs and DVDs, and household electronics. The problem is that it’s bad for our health. Not just bad like toxic and so we need to detox, but bad like it disrupts our endocrine systems because it mimics estrogen. So kids who are hitting puberty at earlier ages have BPA at least partly to thank for that. What ore other health effects of BPA?

Scientists have linked bisphenol A (BPA) to a higher incidence of heart disease, diabetes and liver abnormalities in adults as well as brain and hormone development problems in fetuses and young children. Other tests have shown that bisphenol A can promote human breast cancer cell growth, decrease sperm counts in rats, and cause erectile dysfunction and other sexual problems  in men. (Source)



OK, here’s where I was suprised, and hence decided to write this blog post on the evils of BPA. I found out another place it’s found almost all the time, and we who go out and about buying things from stores get on our hands….RECEIPTS. Yes, receipt paper. Almost all receipt paper from gas stations, fast food restaurants, etc contain bisphenol A.

And while it is too big a molecule to be absorbed through your skin, (only small molecules can get into skin cells) if you touch your food with BPA, the chemical gets in you. This happens when you eat canned food or touch your burger bun after taking your receipt. Just one receipt has more than 1000 times as much BPA as baby bottles or canned foods. (source)

The good news is that all you have to do is wash your hands after handling a store receipt before touching your mouth or handling food. Also, one company is starting to produce BPA-free receipt paper.

The tougher thing to do is to eliminate plastics in your environment. While it’s virtually impossible to get rid of all of them, there are many that we can live without. I recently came across a few individual-sized glass water bottles. Since I seem to get water spilled on my laptop, I have a new rule of no open water containers near the computer; this is a good solution for me since I need to have water nearby to drink.  I’ve also been trying to allow myself to feed the children on ceramic and glass instead of the plastic kids’ dishes we have; it does mean more broken dishes though. Definitely not as convenient.

Of course limiting or eliminating the use of canned foods (BPA in the lining definitely contaminates the food you eat) is a good thing; with some planning you can eat fresh or fresh-frozen veggies instead. They have more nutrition and taste as well.

Tylenol Tied to Childhood Asthma and Allergies

A recent article on MSNBC.com caught my attention.

“A pair of studies suggests that the common painkiller acetaminophen — better known as Tylenol in the U.S. — may be fueling a worldwide increase in asthma. 

…. His team followed more than 1,000 Ethiopian babies over three years. When the toddlers turned one, the researchers asked the mothers if their babies had breathing problems, and how much Tylenol they had used.

About eight percent of the kids began to wheeze between ages one and three. Those who had been given Tylenol during their first year — before they had breathing trouble — had up to seven times the odds of developing wheezing.”




“The researchers estimate that Tylenol could potentially be responsible for up to four in 10 of all asthma symptoms, including severe ones such as waking up gasping for air once a week or more.”

What really bugged me was this (emphasis mine):

But large-scale clinical tests are necessary before anyone cleans out their medicine cabinet, stressed Amberbir, whose findings are published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.”

According to Kanabar, dropping painkillers entirely is probably a bad idea, and might cause a child to feel worse and drink less liquid, which could slow recovery.

Here’s the thing, folks. Are you ready?

Painkillers (of any kind) do NOTHING to help your body heal.

If your body is fighting an infection by raising your temperature (giving you a fever) and you take a chemical that lowers that temperature, you are actually WORKING AGAINST YOUR BODY’S ABILITY TO FIGHT THE INFECTION. You are not helping!

Dr. Mendelsohn has a great chapter in his book, How To Raise A Healthy Child…In Spite of Your Doctor, on the function of fever and when to be concerned. If you don’t have this book, I highly recommend it as a resource.

Headaches and other pains serve a purpose. They are warning signals that something is not right and needs attention. If you remove the warning signal without discovering the cause, further damage is sure to ensue. More on this in How To Avoid Headaches-Naturally.

Besides taking away any good that the ache or fever may cause, the toxins put in when you take these medications actually make it harder for your body to heal; there’s more work to do now, as it has to deal with what you put in immediately, and cannot use the same amount of energy now to get better.

So, in my opinion, dropping painkillers entirely is probably a very GOOD idea.

That being said, remember that every little thing you do makes a difference in either direction. In other words, if you cut down but still take something once in a while, you are still better off than you are popping a pill with every ache. So remember to take babysteps and not be too hard on yourself when making these changes. Progress does not mean doing somethings ALWAYS or NEVER, just that you are headed in a direction you know to be good.

Even I don’t ALWAYS do the “good” things and NEVER do the “bad” things.  Just do what you can do.

So, do I think that taking Tylenol causes asthma? I have no idea. But, I do know that the more junk that goes into your body (including Tylenol), the more likely your body is to scream at you in protest (think: symptom). Asthma is a symptom, a warning signal. So whether or not it has a direct cause is not my focus.

Just ask yourself: Does it promote health or hinder it?

There’s your answer.

Baby Carrots Not So Good?

I recently had the following email forwarded to me.  I read it, and then followed by reading the Snopes commentary. Snopes is an organization that checks (and reports on) the validity of rumors such as these. It’s always a good idea to check these claims, though I admit I don’t always do it.

The original email is in italics, with the commentary under it mine.

Baby Carrots:

The following is  information from a farmer who grows and packages carrots for  IGA, METRO, LOBLAWS, etc.

The small cocktail (baby) carrots you buy in small plastic bags are  made using the larger crooked or deformed carrots which are  put through a machine which cuts and shapes them into  cocktail carrots – most people probably know this  already.

What you may not know and should know is the following:
Once the carrots are  cut and shaped into cocktail carrots they are dipped in a  solution of water and chlorine in order to preserve them  (this is the same chlorine used in your  pool).

Since they do not have their skin or natural protective covering, they give them a higher  dose of chlorine.

You will notice that once you keep these carrots in your refrigerator for a few days, a white  covering will form on the carrots. This is the chlorine which resurfaces.  At what cost do we put our health at risk to have esthetically pleasing vegetables?

Chlorine is a very well-known carcinogen, which causes Cancer.  I thought this was worth passing on. Pass it on to as many people as possible in hopes of informing them where these carrots come  from and how they are processed.

I used to buy those baby carrots for vegetable dips. I know that I will never buy them again!!!!

My Commentary:

The commentary by Snopes is good; I am unable to cut and paste a quote here, but what I found important is that all fresh-cut, ready to eat vegetables are cleaned with chlorine as an accepted practice. Yes, they are rinsed.

But, I don’t want to eat chlorine washed veggies.

And Snopes says that the white “film” on the outer layer is NOT chlorine coming to the surface. It’s just drying out, as any carrot will do in the fridge.

Anyway, you must pay a great deal more for the convenience of pre-cut vegetables. I’m sure you have something you’d rather spend your money on, don’t you? It only takes a minute to cut some carrot sticks. I do it all the time!



Think Before You Pink

It’s October. Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Are you aware of Breast Cancer? Did you realize that one in EIGHT women are diagnosed with it?

Whether or not you are genetically at risk, the biggest factors are the CHEMICALS YOU ARE EXPOSED TO. You can do something about this.  And spending money on a pink bucket of fried chicken is NOT the way to do it.

That’s right, even KFC is getting in on searching for a “cure” for breast cancer. Here’s an ABC article about the pink buckets from KFC.

I’ve recently seen some videos about breast cancer and preventing it.  I share them with you.

The first, supports an organization. I’m neither in favor or against the organization per say, but I do like the message in the video and thought it was well done.

Apparently this Christina Pirello has a TV show called Christina Cooks. I’ve been out of the country and away from TV for so long that I was not aware of it, but it seems like a good show; she takes traditional meals and teaches you how to make the healthier version. Franken-Fish is Coming To Town

You may have read the recent headlines referring to the genetically engineered Salmon, dubbed the “Franken-Fish.” Of course, its official name is a slightly more majestic: the AquAdvantage.

If not, let me enlighten you a little bit.

“The AquAdvantage salmon has been given a gene from the ocean pout, an eel-like fish, and a growth hormone from a Chinook salmon.”

Why? So that it grows bigger faster. The ocean pout (a completely different species) can withstand very cold water. So they mixed some of this fish in with the regular salmon so that the cold water will not delay its growth like it normally does, and the salmon will continue to grow year-round.  The photos clearly show that the modern modified salmon is twice the size of a regular salmon at the same age. Of course, this will make the folks who sell these frankenfish more money….or, I’m sure they’ll lead the public to believe: “save YOU money”. Which should make you feel warm and fuzzy all over and want to rush out to buy some.

This week , the FDA is set to approve this fish for human consumption. And not only that, but to decide whether or not it will need to carry a label identifying it as being genetically engineered.

If no label is deemed necessary, you will have absolutely no idea what you are buying or being served when you buy salmon. And if this goes forward, there will be other animals soon to follow.

It’s just plain WRONG.

We have a right to know what we are being offered so that we can decide if we want it or not.

It’s the same reason I feel strongly about fluoride in the water (we can’t choose to not use it) and lies perpetrated by the medical community about vaccines (we can’t make educated decisions if we are not offered the truth).

If scientists want to mess with the way things were designed to come up with something better, they have that right. But I should also have the right to NOT use those perversions. I should be able to eat plain old fashioned fruits and vegetables (yes, even CORN) without it having been “messed with” and I should certainly be able to CHOOSE whether I want to eat these monsters or not.

By the way, according to The Washington Post, the FDA not only might NOT label those things that ARE genetically modified, it also opposes labels on things that point out that they are NOT genetically modified.

The biotechnology industry is opposed to mandatory labeling, saying it will only bewilder a public that is not well informed about genetic engineering.

Extra labeling only confuses the consumer,” said David Edwards, director of animal biotechnology at the Biotechnology Industry Organization. “It differentiates products that are not different. As we stick more labels on products that don’t really tell us anything more, it makes it harder for consumers to make their choices.”

The FDA defends its approach, saying it is simply following the law, which prohibits misleading labels on food. And the fact that a food, in this case salmon, is produced through a different process, is not sufficient to require a label.

Did you catch that? They don’t want us to be confused. They don’t want us to think there’s anything different between those things that have been modified and those that have not, because they “are not different”.

But they ARE different to ME.

When Natural Doesn’t Seem To Work

I feel extremely frustrated.

Remember those Unwanted Guests I so eloquently described? Yep, enterobius vermicularis AKA pinworms. We’ve got them. Or, at least one of us still has them, despite our all natural anti-parasite regimen, including lots of toy rinsing, sheet changing, tush-showering, and LOTS of hand-washing (with paper towels to dry). ARGH !!!

Natural remedies work- in general. I’ve experienced that. There are too many testimonials out there to just blatantly disbelieve them. But they are gentle. They take longer. They require patience and perseverance. And, they are not cookie-cutter answers: you have to tweak it to see what works best for each individual person. That’s because natural remedies use real food or herbs, etc, to help the body do its own work. They promote life and healing (pro-bio), instead of death and sickness (anti-bio).

We used a gentle parasite cleanse, well, gently. Instead of giving our kids a full strength dose for the recommended 3 weeks that an adult would take, we gave them a half dose for only 2 weeks. We did not take into consideration the ages of our children and how that might affect the transmission of these little critters. In other words, kids somehow manage to get those little egg things spread around the house and then put their hands into their mouths constantly, which is something that an adult would be able to better control.  So treating a household with five young children, one of whom is crawling and puts everything in her mouth, should not be approached the same way as treating a single adult.  So all the while we were cleansing, at least some of us were re-infesting. Eeew.

I believe our bodies were made to be healthy, with the ability to self-regulate and heal, providing no interference. (For more on this, read “When Your Child Is Unwell: Attitudes Toward Illness“) And that when an interference is discovered or detected, it should be corrected in the way that will cause little to no harm to the body. If possible. Within limits that you choose.

Our son was hospitalized with pneumonia and took antibiotics, intravenously and then orally. Antibiotics are awful for your body, but they do have a purpose. It is possible that if he hadn’t gone for that treatment that he would have died. Obviously, that’s a limit that we were not willing to pass in the name of  “doing things naturally.” So, we allowed his body to be given toxins in order to clear up the infection that for some reason his body seemed incapable of correcting itself.

And then we began the cleanup process.

If I were more patient, we could take the natural parasite cleanse again, longer, and with a higher dosage. I am not. This parasite is so communicable that we are unable to have friends over until we are sure that it is gone. Not cool at all.

Now, once it’s gone, we MUST take steps to protect ourselves from a re-infestation. How, you might ask, would we get it again? Oh, that’s easy. PAY ATTENTION TO THIS, ALL YOU PARENTS WHO HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN YOU SEND TO SCHOOL OR DAYCARE: My 4 year old son will not be homeschooling with us this year. He will be going to preschool. With other kids. Who also don’t have the best toilet habits, hand washing habits, who put things in their mouths, and….you get it. Basically, these creepy crawlies are everywhere there are young children!

So, I’m planning to get whatever I need to get to wipe these things out. And then, we’ll continue our cleanup process. And learn to really like apple cider vinegar, garlic, cloves, and pumpkin seeds (natural anti-parasitic foods).

Here are things you can do to help keep parasites away:

  1. To avoid head lice, get rosemary oil from the health food store. Dab a drop behind each earlobe of your child as you would perfume before he goes to school each day.  You can also use any shampoo or conditioner with rosemary or tea tree oil in it; they don’t like the smell.
  2. To avoid  intestinal parasites (like pinworms), eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies. As much raw as possible
  3. Add raw pumpkin and sunflower seeds to your diet. You can add them to your smoothie or have them as a snack. The worms don’t like them.
  4. Have an apple cider vinegar drink 2-3 times a day. Have a tablespoon of vinegar (organic with the “mother” is best) with a few drops of stevia in a cup of water. It tastes like apple juice and keeps the wormies away.
  5. Eat raw garlic. I take a clove and press it, then take some of that on a spoon, covered in raw honey. The honey helps it slide right down. (Don’t do this on an empty stomach!)
  6. Add a pinch of ground cloves to your breakfast smoothie and your dehydrated granola. You don’t know how to make those? Ask me and I’ll give you the recipies.
  7. Wash, wash, wash those hands! Not just before meal times, but before bed (thumb-sucking), after waking up, after playing outside, of course after using the bathroom…..and every hour in between.
